King Claw Goes Vertical
Construction on Dreamworld’s major new thrill attraction, King Claw, has reached a new milestone, with the ride now going vertical on-site in Ocean Parade.

King Claw replaces the original Claw, which permanently closed in January 2025 after more than two decades of operation. The new attraction is a significant upgrade, featuring a 27-metre tall structure, a swing arc reaching 42 metres high, and a top speed of 98 km/h, a substantial increase over its predecessor.
Construction officially began in February, with the ride expected to open by late September 2025, subject to final installation and commissioning.
The attraction’s queue line structure and shade cover were completed in mid-June. The design has drawn comparisons to the Mysterious Island area of Tokyo DisneySea, featuring strong steampunk influences inspired by the works of Jules Verne.
Mr. YumYum described the look as “clearly influenced by steampunk and that Jules Verne adventure vibe,” praising the bold, industrial aesthetic and attention to detail, and we couldn't agree more.
With vertical construction now underway, the project enters its next phase. More updates are expected over the coming weeks as the ride structure continues to rise and installation progresses.
